The first trailer for the Assassin’s Creed movie has hit, and if you’re a fan of the video game series, then you’re not going to be disappointed. The new movie stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson.
The film is the latest video game adaptation, and tells the story of Callum Lynch who, through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, is able to experience the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum comes from the mysterious “Assassin’s”, a secret society with a unique skill set. He takes his newly learned skills and must battle the “Templar” organization in present day.
It’s definitely a unique take on the Ubisoft game, and will be interesting to see how the movie fleshes out. The film will hit theaters on December 21st of this year, pitting right against Star Wars: Rogue One.
Video game movies aren’t exactly box office gold, yet. Films like Assassin’s Creed and the upcoming Warcraft are hoping to change that.
