Earlier this year, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon opened a brand new attraction at the park, Miss Adventure Falls. It was the first new attraction in 12 years. Walt Disney World’s other waterpark, Blizzard Beach had not received a new attraction since it opened in 1995. To say it’s about time is a bit of an understatement.
That may change real soon, as a guest posted new images to Twitter that seem to indicate new construction has indeed happened.

According to Skylor, the new area is huge and looks to have cleared a ton of trees.
Here’s a closer look.
The area that is being cleared is the Red Slopes section of the park. That area only has one attraction, Runoff Rapids, and it’s been closed for quite some time. The three slides include a body slide and two inter tube slides.
Big question, what will the next attraction be at Blizzard Beach? First, we don’t think it will be nearly as big as the picture above suggests…or will it? Universal Orlando recently opened their new Volcano Bay waterpark, and it has some pretty impressive attractions…even if the park is having a few problems.
Blizzard Beach had always been known as the more thrilling of the two parks, so could Disney be putting in a high tech new take on a big thrilling attraction? The only problem is tabt Disney already has a great collection of water slides, that it’s pretty hard to peg just what they’re cooking up.
We’ll figure it out soon, with construction looking to ramp up in the next few weeks.
