Deadline is reporting that James Gunn and Disney Studios head Alan Horn has come to an agreement, and James Gunn will once again be helming the Galaxy’s best team of A-holes in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The film, which Gunn also scripted, will begin filming after James Gunn finishes work on his DC adaptation of The Suicide Squad, which he’s filming for Warner Brothers.
The move comes after Gunn’s firing last July after tweets were unearthed from over ten years earlier. The tweets were dug up by alt-right media, and were tweets that Gunn had already apologized for. The tweets were not funny, very offensive and made to shock, just for the sake of shocking. Disney had a knee jerk reaction, and it came in a time right after the company had fired Roseanne for making racist tweets earlier that same year.
Was it the right decisions I fire Gunn? Apparently Disney doesn’t think so anymore.
Apparently Horn was impressed on how Gunn handled the situation, which lead to open talks with the director.
We will likely hear more about this as it develops.
