You may not consider Butterflies a “Thrill”, but when you’re in an atrium full of thousands of beautifully colored winged insects all around you, you may change your mind. From March 14th to April 12th 2015, you can experience this annual immersion of Butterfly Kisses at the San Diego Safari Park in Southern California. The annual experience gives guests the chance to get up close and personal with hundreds of colorful butterflies, and flowers, and gives guests a different view of the sometimes slimy and icky insect world.
With over 40 species of butterflies, more than 100 birds and 8,000 butterflies, temperatures and climate similar to the tropics, and different plant life, you can feel what it’s like to become a flower for butterflies to be attracted to. Just remember to wear bright colors and stand still to become part of this amazing nature experience as tons of tiny creatures flock to you.

The San Diego Safari Park is not holding back from letting the world know about their unique attraction. There is a Coloring Contest for kids 11 and younger for a chance to win a “weekly drawing to win a free plush and t-shirt!” If you happen to be as bad as staying in between the lines while coloring as I am, as well as over 11, then their Instagram Photo Contest might be a better fit for you. According to the contest rules: “Upload your Butterfly Jungle memories for a chance to win a Cheetah Safari for two. Tag your photos with #ButterflyJungle to enter.” The Cheetah Safari for two is valued at a $100.00 and you have a chance to become friends with a Cheetah! …or it’s next meal, but hopefully just friends. Side Note: one time I had a Cheetah stuffed animal and we were friends and he did not eat me.
