Walt Disney World food worker tests positive for Hepatitis A

For the second time within a year, a food service worker at a Walt Disney World restaurant has tested positive for Hepatitis A. This time, the worker was at the Hoop-Dee-Hoo Musical Review at the Fort Wilderness Resort.
Disney released the following statement:

“Nothing is more important to us than safety. Upon learning this news, we immediately began working with the Florida Department of Health in Orange County. The impacted cast member has not worked since being diagnosed and will not return until officially cleared by the Department of Health. We are not aware of anyone else becoming ill and continue to be engaged with the Department of Health to ensure we have all of the right processes in place to protect our cast members and guests.”

The first case was reported at Morimoto Asia, at Disney Springs late last year.

Disney is working with health officials to make hepatitis A vaccinations available to cast members who might have been exposed. The vaccine can help provide protection from the disease, if administered within two weeks of exposure.

If you believe you might have been exposed, or have concerns Walt Disney World guests and customers may call (877) 404-3821 to leave their information and a call-back number or call the Florida Department of Health’s epidemiology program at (407) 858-1420 for further information.

Since the reports, the restaurant has been thoroughly cleaned and sterilized, and remains open, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
