There’s just a week left to celebrate the wonderful Lunar New Year event at Universal Studios Hollywood. This event take’s place annually within the Universal Plaza area of the park and dedicates itself to the celebration of not only the Lunar New Year but to Asian culture in general.
This year’s event is mostly the same from last year, so there’s not too much to share in terms of new additions. You will however find a brand new Chinese inspired Hello Kitty infront of her store as well as a relocation of the Minion Photo Op to where the New Year Street currently is.
But the return of the incredible Mr. Ping meet and greet and his noodle cart are always welcome.
Po and Tigress also take part in the festivities.
Here you can make a wish or set a goal for the upcoming year.
It would not be Lunar New Year at Universal Studios Hollywood if it didn’t have Mandarin speaking Megatron.
The exciting Kung Fu Academy show has also returned, no major changes here as well.
You can also learn the history and why we celebrate Lunar New Year in this interactive storytelling experience.
Learn to draw your favorite Kung Fu Panda characters.
You’ll also find a small selection of Lunar New Year merch throughout the park, including the Animation Studio Store.
Even though not much has changed this year from last, the Lunar New Year at Universal remains one of my personal favorite seasonal offerings. You’ll find a solid few hours of entertainment from the Lunar New Year area alone. But act quickly, Lunar New Year ends on Feb 18, 2019.
