With the recent announcement of Disneyland’s up and coming 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration, there have been lots of speculation and excitement surrounding many attractions at Disneyland when construction walls suddenly started to appear around various attractions. Today, via the Disney Park’s Blog, we now have a better idea of what to expect for a few of the up and coming projects.
The first of the two new overhauls takes place directly behind the castle as Peter Pan’s flight will be receiving many new lighting, effects and animatronic upgrades.
If the effects look familar, they’ll be similar to what was installed this past year in Orlando for their interactive queue.
Also reopening in May is Peter Pan’s Flight, featuring a reimagined nursery scene and a variety of special effects that will make this classic and beloved attraction come to life in new ways.
The 2nd attraction is the iconic Matterhorn Bobsleds rollercoaster. Based on renderings it seems that the classic Walt Disney original will be getting a fleet of brand new Abominable snow animatronics to add further suspense to the already rough coaster. The artwork depicts a much more realistic and sinister looking snowman than the old “Harold” version.
Disneyland park favorite is about to get even better as new effects are being added to Matterhorn Bobsleds. Just wait until you see the Abominable Snowman in ways you’ve never seen him before when the attraction reopens in May!
With all these new changes, overlays, brand new entertainment and much more than has yet to be announced yet. Disneyland will be a must-do this summer as the park celebrates it’s 60th summer. The Diamond Celebration begins on May 22 only at Disneyland Resort in California.
