Ocean Breeze Waterpark announces new slides and expansion of children’s area

During a press conference today, Ocean Breeze Waterpark announced details of a 2011 multi-million dollar face lift and expansion for the park. They will be giving the entire park a face lift to incorporate Caribbean theming, as well as adding a brand new slide complex, Neptune’s Revenge, and expanding their children’s section, Hook’s Lagoon, of the waterpark. This is slated to be completed by park opening on May 27th.

“This capital improvements plan will dramatically improve the quality and variety of attractions Ocean Breeze offers, and enhance the park’s ambiance and guest experience,” said Kieran Burke, one of the park’s new owners. “We think our patrons will instantly appreciate and value the changes as soon as they step through the gate.”

Neptune’s Revenge

Neptune’s Revenge will be a four slide complex, where visitors will be able to choose from “The Trident”, “Sea Serpent”, “Earth Shaker”, or “Vortex”. Riders will ride on a one or two person tube as they “maneuver through dark, enclosed serpentine tunnels, multiple open and closed funnels and high-speed drops”. Two of the slides will have “Topsy Turvey” funnel flumes, and one will feature the “Bullet Bowl”. The nearest slides with similar features are located in New York and Iowa. Ocean Breeze will feature the first attraction with two “Topsy Turvey” funnel flumes.

Hook’s Lagoon

Hook’s Lagoon is an expansion of the children’s area, Buccaneer Bay. The newly expanded area will incorporate fun, interactive elements for kids like sprayers, a slide, and a tipping water bucket. Kids can play high and look for land up top, or slide to the bottom and enjoy other features the area has to offer like a children’s sized pirate ship, lazy river, and other slides.

“I know the Hampton Roads residents, as well as visitors to the area, will delight in the new and improved Ocean Breeze. Our 2011 additions are just the beginning,” said Burke. “We’ll be making multi-million dollar investments in the park over the next several seasons as part of our goal to makeOcean Breeze a world-class water park and regional destination.”

Park wide improvements include enhancements to the million gallon Runaway Bay Wave Pool, theme changes to give the park a Caribbean feel, and the addition of 6 more private cabanas available for rent.
