Nestled like a sugar plum just minutes away from Walt Disney World in Orlando is Gaylord Palms Resort. The hotel is an amazing getaway any time of the year, but during Christmas the hotel shines and glistens with the lights and tastes of the holidays. The hotel plays host to 2 Million tons of ice with the frozen attraction ICE! However, that’s not the only thing getting children nestled all snug in their beds. There are several holiday helpings at Gaylord Palms that will bring kids, and kids at heart together like never before!
From special shows, and characters, there’s a little bit of everything for everyone at Gaylord Palms for Christmas. We were recently invited out to a preview of this year’s festivities and were flat out blown away by everything that the hotel had to offer. From the amazing food, and decorations, to the world class entertainment, Gaylord Palms rivals many Orlando area theme parks with their annual Christmas events, and this year things are just getting bigger and better.
Gaylord Palms features a huge atrium that houses unique parts of Florida every day, but during the holidays the Atrium comes to life like no other days with cascading lights, shimmering snowflakes and a huge 54 foot Christmas tree. The tree towers above the St. Augustine section of the Atrium and can be seen from just about anywhere in the hotel.
Shows
Gaylord Palms has several shows running throughout the course of the day and night. The main show being Luminesence-Featuring The Edge Effect. The show combines high energy takes on some favorite Christmas carols, as well as some new favorites. It combines high flying acrobats that you have to see to believe, the music of The Edge Effect and great special effects. Family Traditions
Take a trip down memory lane. Sing along and enjoy your favorite Christmas tunes of yesteryear, performed live. You’ll leave the show humming the sounds of the season.
Christmas Wonders
The 54-foot majestic Christmas Tree stands tall as Christmas Wonders wows with contemporary holiday tunes that are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.
Every evening the hotel lights the huge Christmas Tree at 6:15 with carolers, performers and lots and lots of lights.
Dreamworks
Last year Gaylord Hotels entered into an exclusive deal with Dreamworks pictures to bring their animated characters to life. This year you can see Merry Madagascar in ICE! as well as have a Shrek Feast with all the fixins of the swamp while solving riddles and puzzles. You can get your picture with all the Dreamworks characters like Shrek and even decorate gingerbread cookies with Gingy!
Families can decorate cookies with Gingy in Holiday Hall, as well as meet Po from Kung Fu Panda, the Madagascar Gang and even go on a scavenger hunt with the cast of the latest Dreamworks film-Rise of the Guardians.
Plus kids can visit with Santa every day from now until December 24th, when the jolly old elf has to make his annual run around the globe.
While what we experienced was only a sample, Gaylord Palms does an amazing job bringing the holidays to life.
