Last year, Gaylord Palms Hotel in Kissimmee had the huge debut of Summerfest. We had the good luck to try it out, and WOW. For us it really cemented in the fact that Gaylord Palms is a destination in and of itself. There’s so much to do, that you honestly do not have to leave the hotel. Of course, it’s Orlando and there’s a world of theme parks just outside the doors of the magnificent hotel, but it’s becoming a destination all it’s own. This year, the huge Summerfest is back, and it’s bringing back some favorites, but also upping the game with some new content.
Here’s the line up for this year’s Summerfest:
School’s Out for Summer Sing-A-Long Show:
The incredibly talented SummerFest singers will serenade pool patrons with favorite pop and rock hits from the Cypress Springs Stage in this all ages show.
Florida Explorer Scavenger Hunt
An all new experience, guests will be able to become “Florida Explorers” inside the atriums. Guests will grab a compass and embark on a journey amongst the resort’s flora and fauna, solving puzzles and finding clues along the way. ($6.99 per scavenger hunt activity book and compass.)
Swamp Witch Escape Ghost Tour
A tour guide will lead guests through the swamps inside the bewitchingly beautiful atrium to tell the tale of Bessie Budd-Graham, the swamp witch of Tallahassee. In the end, guests must face the specter of Bessie herself and work together to escape her curse. This is different from last summer, where guests learned about spooky tales of Florida, and real ghost stories. We had the chance to check that out last year, which was one of the highlights of the trip. If this version is half as good as the previous, it’s going to be a must-do (Additional cost.)
Paint the Waves Surf Show
The hotels FlowRider and highly decorated surf team takes center stage I. This very cool show. This talented team will take to the waves, sharing their most colorful moves in a jaw dropping exhibition of color, thrills and fun.
US FLOW Tour Championships presented by Aquafina®
In August Guests will be entertained as top competitors from the world of flowboarding test their skills while seeking to earn a national title. The championship happens Saturday August 11th.
SummerFest Atrium Light Show presented by bubly
Each evening as the sun dips down and the moon rises, the SummerFest Atrium Light Show presented by bubly™ welcomes guests to look up inside the resort’s St. Augustine Atrium for a bright and colorful light show that celebrates the spirit of summertime. This is something that is normally reserved for Christmas, and should be an amazing time. The show starts at 9:15 pm and is free to all hotel guests.
There’s also tons of other fun, as the hotel offers Build a Bear Workshop and more on select days.
There’s also the award winning Relache Spa, which is also getting in on the SummerFest fun with three unique new treatments.
Everglades Detoxifying Mud Wrap and Massage Treatment is designed to detoxify the body with the healing mud of the Florida everglades. The treatment ends with a relaxing custom massage. (80-minute treatment; $170 plus service charge.)
Inspired by the journey of Spanish explorer Ponce de León, the St. Augustine Fountain of Youth Gold Facial invites guests to treasure their face with a gold or diamond mask, followed by a luxurious hand and arm treatment. (50-minute treatment; includes a complimentary home care eye treatment; $145 plus service charge.)
Guests will feel as if they have sailed away to the Southernmost Point with the Key West Sea Mist Pedicure as they dip their toes into a luxurious foot soak followed by a citrus pumice scrub and lime essence lotion. Whether it’s the fun and sun filled SummerFest, the Holiday fun of Christmas at Gaylord Palms or other amazing events through the year, Gaylord Palms is a vacation in and of itself. We will have even more from Gaylord in the coming days.
