It’s been a long time in the making, but today finally marks the day that Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Mine Train is finally open! The all new coaster caps off The New Fantasyland area that began opening in 2012. The all new family coaster let’s riders go to the place where a million diamonds shine, and helps to tell the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
The all new coaster isn’t your run of the mill thrill ride. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train mixes all new coaster technology, with state of the art animation to give the all new audio animatronics a unique look while riding through.
Video-Ride through the all new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Coaster at Magic Kingdom!
If you watch the video above, you’ll notice a subtle change in the way the cars move. As the coaster moves forward on the track, the individual cars rock side to side. It gives a very fun, unique sensation as you are careening down the track. The adventure, however, doesn’t start with the coaster itself. The line is full of interactive games, and gems, telling a story all it’s own.
Of course with the attraction being new, there will be a huge wait to ride. So far the times have been hovering anywhere between an hour, and two hours, with times peeking at three hours during soft openings. The best way to avoid the lines is to book a FastPass+ using the My Magic Plus+ system, but if you have plans to do so, you better do it fast. Times can now be booked online, and can be filled up well in advance. If you don’t have a ticket yet, you can also book your times in the park via kiosks, for a very limited time each day.
Of course the best time to ride the all new mine train is first thing in the morning. Other great times are during fireworks, and parades, and also right at the end of the day as lines tend to disperse during these times.
The opening was fairly low key, though members of the Orlando Magic as well as Big Brothers, Big Sisters were on hand for a ribbon cutting to officially open the attraction.
While not part of the event, Star Wars and Harry Potter star Warwick Davis was also spotted in the park.
Davis was spotted near the ride, and later riding, but he is in town for Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Davis will be seen later this summer across town at Universal Orlando when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley opens. Davis will be reprising his role of the devious Goblin, Griphook.
