Theme park season is begrudgingly coming to a close at most parks across the country. While that’s always a bad thing, there is a bright side. Parks are starting to announce what will be waiting for guests when they reopen next year. Kings Dominion added to an already massive line up with a wet announcement all their own.
The Virginia park announced that they will be expanding their already massive Waterworks Waterpark with several new attractions.
“This major expansion to WaterWorks will allow family members of all generations to experience water park fun together with our new splash zone,” Kings Dominion’s vice-president and general manager Pat Jones said. “We are keeping with our traditions of providing entertainment and fun to all ages. We chose this six-slide complex to give our thrill-seeking guests a completely new water slide experience and Splash Island to provide a relaxing environment for more family fun.”
The 65 foot tall, six slide complex will feature three different types of slides offering unique experiences on each.
Paradise Plunge will let riders step into one of three tubes where the floor will drop out, sending them spiraling through an enclosed tube.
Aqua Blast will throw riders through twists, turns and 360 degree loops before getting dropped out in a pool below.
Thunder Falls will blast guests in single or double rider tubes through twists, turns and wet fun.
For the rest of the family, Splash Island will feature tons of water play, small slides and ways for parents to relax while the kids have fun.
The new expansion is expected to premiere in 2015 when Kings Dominion opens for the season. Waterworks is included with Kings Dominion admission, and will continue to be included in admission.
