ABC and Disney to celebrate “Frozen Christmas Celebration” on Christmas Day

It’s been a holiday tradition for over 30 years, but this year the annual Disney Christmas Day Parade that airs on ABC is changing things up just a bit. For the first time in forever, there will be a new face of the annual Christmas parade that has become a holiday tradition for many. This year, the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade will become a spectacular, and it’s getting help from some “Frozen” Friends.

The annual Disney Christmas Day Parade will be turned into a “Frozen Christmas Celebration” for 2014, as the world domination of the hit film Frozen (which debuted in 2013) continues. There is no word on just what is in store, but seeing that the entire parade is being dubbed a “Frozen Celebration”, we’re going to guess that it will feature tons of characters and music from the film.

Here’s the official show description:

“Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration” — Music, magic and merriment come together when Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida present the 31st annual Christmas Day parade and TV special. The star-studded sounds of the season include some of today’s top musical talents lending their voices to celebrate the holidays. And, from fairy tales to classic Christmas carols, Disney friends and holiday characters spread joy and good tidings through Disneyland Park in California and the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida. This year promises some extra Frozen fun with fanciful floats and colorful cavalcades as Santa Claus himself along with his reindeer, wend their holly jolly way down Main Street, USA. (10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., ET; check local listings)”

Frozen has already taken over Christmas at Walt Disney World in Florida with an all new nightly stage show in which the castle is draped in “ice”. The show also marks the first appearance of Olaf as a walk around character.

Frozen also has a spot in this year’s “Once Upon a Christmas” Parade, in which Anna and Elsa have a royal caravan, Kristoff takes charge of all his ice cutting buddies, and Olaf talks about how great winter is…instead of his normal summer daydreams.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios also has a the hugely popular “Frozen Singalong” coming back indefinitely, throughout the holiday season, and indefinitely. Epcot will have an all new Frozen attraction in 2016, and who knows what else will happen in the future.

Traditionally, the parade features performances by some of today’s most popular artists, as well as very unique floats and characters that you can’t normally see in Disney parades. However, with the focus on Frozen this year, the parade will most likely feature performances from the film, and could feature some of the talent from the film as well.

Taping for the Disneyland section of the parade happened on November 8th, but the taping for the Magic Kingdom portion at Walt Disney World is expected to happen on December 6-9th. Guests in the park will be allowed to take part in the tapings on those days.
