How did we miss this? According to several websites, the Walt Disney World annual passholder page listed Season of the Force, the huge new Star Wars celebration, as starting January 8th. This new event will kick off earlier at Disneyland, but the huge event doesn’t start at Disney’s Hollywood Studios until the first of the year, and what a happy new year it will be.
The new event will be a huge celebration of Star Wars with several all new offerings. The event will have massive new fireworks shows on the weekends, with the famous Disney fireworks set to Star Wars Music. There will also be increased Star Wars characters all around the park, as well as new Star Wars food and drink offerings.
According to pictures that were taken from the annual passholder site, the event would begin on January 8th, and go until March 31st. This would have it replacing the very popular Star Wars Weekends, although that event is listed as coming “Summer of 2016” on the official website. We doubt very seriously that Disney would roll out two huge Star Wars events in the same year, but if Star Wars-The Force Awakens turns out to be the wildly popular beast Disney is hoping for, then you are very likely to see it take over Walt Disney World and Disneyland, much in the same way Frozen did in the months following that film’s release.
