It was first announced two years ago, and hasn’t moved much since…stuck, in the same spot, while that song plays on and on…never ending. After two years, the movie has finally gotten scriptwriters for the project, as it continues to gain steam.
The new movie already has director Jon Turteltaub attached to direct and, according to Variety, has just brought aboard the writing pair of Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio. They have previously worked on films like Meet the Fockers, and Marmaduke. Director Turteltaub has previously directed National Treasure for Disney.
The new movie will be loosely based on the classic attraction, which got it’s start in the 1964 New York World’s Fair, where it was in support of the United Nation’s Childrens Fund, after which it was moved to Disneyland in 1966. The ride has become a staple in every single Disney Park around the world.
