Dollywood just opened the worlds first launched wooden coaster. While there were some issues and delays, Lightning Rod is still a big deal. All big deals aside, 2017 is going to be even bigger for the resort as they plan to drop five major new additions.
The first is DropLine, a 200 foot tall free fall drop tower. Guests will get a good look at the park as they climb up through the Timber Canyon area. Then, they drop. Guests will rush down towards the Canyons pool before coming to a gentle stop and prying their knuckles out of the seat.
Next up is Whistle Punk Chaser. The name is pretty cool, but it’s going to be the next coaster for Dollywood…a kids coaster. The new coaster will let “little loggers” prepare for the bigger coasters. From a he sound of it, this junior coaster will be a wooden coaster made just for kids.
Tailspin Racer has already been announced for Splash Country, but it caps off the fun as new attractions at the resort.
The park will also bring two new entertainment offerings to the table with an all new show and all new festival.
Tokyo based dance troupe enra will dazzle guests with mesmerizing performances between light and shadows.
In October, guests will be able to enjoy the nighttime fun with GREAT Pumpkin Illuminights. It will run along with the Southern Gospel Jubilee, and Harvest Festival. The new nighttime event will showcase loads of pumpkin illumination. Knowing how Dollywood does everything else, this is going to be something families will have to see.
