After months of rumor and speculation, Busch Gardens announced their all new attraction for 2019 on Wednesday. Tigris, a brand new Premiere Sky Rocket coaster will take over the home of the former Tanzia Tidal Wave, and will be the first new coaster since Cobra’s Curse in 2016.
Tigris will have the spirit and agility of the tiger with it, as it uses black supports and orange track to rocket guests through the station, and up the track twice before sending riders over and above. The coaster will leap 150 feet into the air before spinning riders through an inverted, heart-line roll and massive loop before cruising back into the station.
“Tigris will be a strong addition to our family of world-class thrill rides. With three intensely exciting launch points, this ride is unlike anything we have in our coaster collection,” said Stewart Clark, president and general manager of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. “This new attraction is a testament to our continuing investment in the park, and bringing new and innovative experiences to our guests.”
The new coaster is scheduled to open in Spring of 2019, and will be the 9th coaster in the park. But that’s not all! The park also teased another coaster in the park, which will take up the Gwazi area in 2020! We will have more details about that, but let’s just say things will get “Rocky”.
