Drumulums, Cupcakes, Piano Smasher. If you know the Blue Man Group, then you know that these aren’t cute nicknames for snack foods. Their Instruments (or ways to play instruments) that the Blue Man Group has invented to make up their unique sound. As part of both their touring shows, and their stage shows (most notably Universal Orlando) the Blue Man Group uses these different instruments to create a blissful party-like atmosphere with feelings of euphoria. In other words, it’s pretty cool.
Now the Blue Man Group wants your instruments. BMG is holding a contest to inspire students in grades 5-9 to take ordinary objects and repurpose them as musical instruments, imagination is key here. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000 dollars and a trip to New York, but there are 25 prizes altogether, according to the official site.

Here are a few examples of Blue Man Groups instruments, and how they take ordinary instruments and make them their own.
