Fresh from his Twelfth regeneration, the Doctor, Peter Capaldi, his companion, Jenna Coleman, and executive producer and lead writer, Steven Moffat, will go around the world in twelve days to launch the new series premiering in August. The Doctor has never been more popular world-wide since celebrating his 50th anniversary last year which concluded with the “Day of the Doctor” finale.
The Doctor and his companions, TARDIS-free unfortunately, will start their journey in Cardiff the current “home” of the Doctor where the series is produced and then head to London, Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City, and finally end his journey in Rio de Janeiro. This is a first of its kind promotional jaunt for the Doctor, who has made numerous appearances in the United Kingdom, New York and San Diego in his earlier 11th incarnation. Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, and companions Amy Pond, Karen Gillian, and Rory Williams, Arthur Darvill, were guests at San Diego Comic Con for several years as well as hosting premier events in New York City for several series.
In the past, events included Q and A sessions with the stars and producers of the show, autograph sessions, promotional showings of trailers, mini exhibitions of Doctor Who props and costumes and other activities. The details of this tour have yet to be announced, but the itinerary and more details will be available soon, however now you can discuss the Doctor Who World Tour on Twitter at #DWWorldTour.
