It’s been a rumor for quite some time now, but at the Marvel Panel during San Diego Comic Con, it became official. The Guardians of the Galaxy are coming to Disney! This is huge news, as this marks the first official Marvel attraction in a United States Disney Park since the Marvel purchase. While there have been several meet and greets, and even a Super Hero HQ, this is the first actual ride!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission: Breakout will be coming to Disney California Adventure in 2017, and will feature the return of all the cast members, including Benecio Del Toro’s Collector! Tower of Terror will close in early 2017, which means that a lot of the work is already being done.
This means the end of Tower of Terror, but the new ride is being helmed by Joe Rhode. The setting is a fortress where the Collector keeps his collection. The Guardians are being kept prisoner, and Rockit is enlisting the help of guests to brake out. The ride system will be the same, and will feature huge drops…but instead of being the serious terror filled ride that Tower of Terror is, it will be filled with the Guardians sense of adventure.
Rock songs will play and everything will have different sequences, so it’s a new ride experience every time. This will open with the second movie in 2017!
It’s the first of an all new land, that will see more as time goes on. No more details were given, but we are pretty sure that the rumors of the Avengers coaster will be announced at a later date.
