During today’s Disney’s 1st Quarter Earnings Live Blog, CEO Bob Iger announced that both Star Wars Lands at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, and Disneyland in California will open in 2019. That’s not a whole lot to go on, but it’s something. Construction on both of those projects are progressing along, but the Disneyland version seems to be moving a little faster. Both parks will get new lands based on the Star Wars films, each one with a Millennium Falcon Experience and a cutting edge attraction themed to an escape from the First Order. The new lands will likely coincide with Episode 9, which will close out the current trilogy of Saga films.
Star Wars has become a juggernaut for Disney, with the last two years seeing Star Wars films pushing over a billion dollars at the box office. Disney has also pulled out a lot of stops in the parks, with Season of the Force at Disneyland and Disneyland Paris, and tons of offerings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.
