America’s roller coaster capital is going to give guests more time to ride the largest collection of roller coasters in any one park. Six Flags Magic Mountain announced on Wednesday that beginning January 1st, the park would move to daily operation, year round.
The move comes as Six Flags joins the other Southern California parks in being open year round. Parks like Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland and SeaWorld San Diego have maintained huge numbers being year round destinations. While the main park will be open year round, the Hurricane Harbor Waterpark will maintain it’s current operation from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day Weekend.
In 2016, the attendance at the park was about 3.3 million visitors, which is a great number, but with many tourists in the L.A. area, it’s likely that staying open could mean even bigger numbers. It could also be the first step from the park in becoming a genuine resort, with rumors and hints swirling about an onsite hotel at the park as well.
That’s something that Six Flags has not tackled yet, and with Magic Mountain going year round, it makes it a prime candidate to get the world’s first Six Flags hotel. As it stands, the park is the first in the Six Flags chain to go year round.
