An all new family slide is coming to Aquatica Orlando in 2018. Ray Rush will take over the current Hoo Roo Run slide and expand it out of the parks current boundaries.
In fact Hoo Roo run will close on Halloween to make room for the new slide. Ray Rush will share the same tower with Walhalla Wave, which will also close to make room for the new slide.
So what is Ray Rush? It will be a family tube slide that will launch riders into a series of tubes, careening and sliding towards a huge into a colossal translucent sphere which spins the raft around the slide walls before entering another enclosed tube section. Finally, riders will drop into an open-air halfpipe that resembles the shape of a manta ray. Rafts will soar back and forth on the wings of the manta before entering the final enclosed tube section that ends with a splash.
“Ray Rush will offer a ride experience you won’t be able to get anywhere else in Florida. Aquatica will be the first waterpark in the state to combine these three unique elements into one attraction” said Cathy Valeriano, Aquatica Orlando vice president. “Ray Rush is the perfect addition to our attraction portfolio, complementing what is already one of the most family-friendly waterslide lineups in Orlando.”
Ray Rush will have a height requirement of 42” to appeal to families with children and will accommodate up to four riders per raft. The new slide will be located on the north side of the park next to Walkabout Waters.
For a limited time, passholders will receive a one-time Quick Queue to ride both HooRoo Run and Walhalla Wave on select days in October before construction begins in November.
2018 marks the ten year anniversary for Aquatica, so we’re expecting some big celebrations to happen. However, if we’re being honest, the new slide is sure to be great, but we were really expecting to see a new animal attraction, especially with a name like Ray Rush. This is the first new attraction since Ihu’s Breakaway Falls in 2014. The park, which has two signature animal attractions has not added a new animal attraction since the park’s opening.
Look for Ray Rush in the early half of 2018.
