Kings Island opened on April 29, 1972 to a total of 7,000 guests in Cincinnati, Ohio. The park boasted a slogan of “C’mon Get Happy” for their park, which held 65 rides. Admission to the park was just $6! By the end of the year, Kings Island set a theme park industry record as they attracted more than 2 million guests during their first season. The park has since hosted more than 120 million guests.
Kings Island released a special logo for the park for their upcoming season. The park will turn 40 years old on April 29th!
The 2012 operating season for Kings Island will begin on April 28th, just in time to celebrate! Daily operation will begin on May 11th and the all-new Soak City Water Park will open on May 26th.
In the coming weeks ahead, Kings Island will release a series of interactive online and social media campaigns that will focus on fans of the park and their memories. The park plans on celebrating their 40th anniversary through out the summer.
