Water Country USA announced today that they are getting ready to begin vertical construction of their newest water slide, which is scheduled to open in 2014 – Colossal Curl. The park has been doing preliminary site work in preparation for Colossal Curl, but they are getting ready to pour the foundation for the slide.

“Today, we began clearing the site and excavating for the slide’s foundations,” said Engineering Director Suzy Cheely who is overseeing construction of the Colossal Curl project. “The slide’s footings will form a solid foundation for Colossal Curl’s tower and other structural supports that will secure the slide’s fiberglass tubes and thrill elements.”
Construction crews will work over the winter to install the supports and slide pieces before the park opens in 2014. No official opening date has been set for Colossal Curl yet, but stay tuned!
“Colossal Curl will tower over the park’s main entrance, showcasing the slide’s nearly 70-foot drop,” said Jeff Thomas, Water Country USA’s vice president. “It will make a statement about the world-class attractions we offer here at Water Country USA.”
