Pixar reveals look at new short film “Lava”

Pixar misses very rarely with their full length films. It’s quite possible that they’ve never missed with their animated shorts. The next animated short looks to keep that streak going, as Pixar just released a small teaser for their newest animated short film, Lava. Lava is a musical love story about a lonely singing volcano…let that sink in for a minute.

Lava tells the story of a lonely volcano over the course of millions of years. It has a very distinctive Hawaiian feel to it. Pixar has released a small clip of the film, showing off just a portion of some of the music, as well as the look and feel of the volcano.

The film will be attached to the all new Pixar film “Inside Out” which hits theaters in June of 2015. The director of the film was so taken by the beauty and culture of Hawaii that he learned to play the ukulele. The director wrote the signature song for the film, which was inspired by Hawaiian musician Israel “Iz” Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole.
