Busch Gardens Tampa is getting ready for the cursed. Work is well underway on the all new spinning family coaster, Cobra’s Curse. The park is also quietly doing work throughout the rest of the park, as the bust summer season winds down. We also take a look at the Dragon Fire Grill, which opened over the summer.
Construction crews have been hard at work on the all new family coaster, Cobra’s Curse at Busch Gardens Tampa. The new coaster will take riders on a vertical, elevator climb up to to the top of the hill, before sending them down to face the two massive cobras that curse the grounds.
Construction is moving along, with tons of prep work happening on the site. As of yet, there are no vertical pieces, and no track. The summer has been particularly brutal for Tampa, with the area getting a lot more rain than is typical for this time of year. The coaster is scheduled to be open summer of 2016.
Nearby in Egypt, the entire area is completely closed off. We’re not exactly sure why, but Montu is down for refurbishment, as crews work on the track. This is typical and routine maintenance that the park conducts once every few years. The coaster is expected to reopen on September 5th.
Throughout the rest of the park, construction projects are going full throttle. Tons of enhancements are happening for Howl O Scream, which opens on September 25th. There is also some major work happening near Walkabout Way, as the path is torn up, and blocked off. We’re not exactly sure when that area is scheduled to reopen.
An all new Freestyle machine has been installed in the park, right next to Zagora Cafe, near the front of the park. It’s not exactly new, but it’s something that has popped up over the summer. Another new addition for the summer is the Dragon Fire Grill. The new restaurant took over for the Desert Grill, and features a new menu, new seating area, and new decor. It’s a great place to catch a show, and a bite to eat.
