Spooky Empire is pretty much the San Diego Comic Con of the horror world. Horror fans gather in Orlando every October to dress up, cheer for the bad guys, and even see some of their favorite horror stars. The only thing missing are the huge announcements. This year Spooky Empire is getting a little…weird, with casts and stars from all over the spectrum at their annual “Ultimate Horror Weekend”. From Oompa Loompas, to the Bandit, and even the time warp, there’s just a little bit of everything at this year’s huge three day event.
Spooky Empire is best known for their huge celebrity appearances, but this year it really takes a different twist as a very eclectic line up has been announced. That’s a really good thing, as it shows that Spooky Empire is growing from the little haunt convention, to a full fledged star studded experience.
Just announced,Spooky Empire will be hosting a reunion of the beloved film “Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory” this October. Appearing this “Ultimate Halloween Weekend” are Peter Ostrum (Charlie Bucket), Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt), Denise Nickerson (Violet Beauregarde), Paris Themmen (Mike Teevee), Michael Boliner (Augustus Gloop) and Rusy Goffe (Oompa Loompa). The cast will be available for a Q&A, as well as autographs and photos for an additional fee.
The Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory cast will be joining other celebrities like Burt Reynolds, Neve Campbell and Skeet Ulrich from Scream.
One of our favorites, Danny Trejo from the amazing Machete films will be returning to Spooky. Also returning, the father of modern zombie horror, George Romero will be back as well. Romero has done tons of huge films, such as Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and much more! Other legends include Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination) Tom Savini, and so much more.
If that wasn’t enough, the cast of The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be coming to Spooky Empire. Patricia Quinn, Barry Bostwick and Nell Campbell will also be appearing…AND they will be hosting a midnight showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight on Halloween! Yes, the original cast will be leading a shadowcast of the film…and they’re going to be on a virgin hunt!
Spooky Empire is one of the largest horror conventions in the US and is one of the best Halloween events in Orlando. There are amazing vendors, tell all panels of your favorite horror films, fantastic cosplay, and parties from dusk til dawn.
Spooky Empire runs October 30th until November 1st, and will feature tons of vendors, artists, costume contests and so much more.
