You know the film from the very first bars of music. John Williams has created the score for all seven Star Wars films, and has earned his latest Academy Award nomination for the latest installment, The Force Awakens. A new video takes us behind the scenes of the new film, and some of the thoughts when he was creating themes for the new characters.
What is Star Wars without the music? The legendary score by John Williams is recognizable by just a few notes. The 84 year old has been nominated for an Oscar 50 times, with the latest being for The Force Awakens. The composer has won the award five times, and Sunday, could be looking at his sixth. To celebrate, Lucasfilm has released a special behind the scenes video.
The films have created some very memorable themes, especially for Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. While the new film highlights those older thematics, it also brings the new characters into focus by drawing on the past. For example, Kylo Ren’s theme is similar to Darth Vader’s without sounding very similar.
