Universal Japan is celebrating 15 years! The park is rolling out some huge new fun in the park, and even looking to the future as they eye 2019 for the all new Nintendo land. This year, however, there are flying dinosaurs as well as walking dinosaurs in the park. We get the chance to take a look around, and see all the cool things happening.
The first major thing is the front gate. It’s an explosion of color and excitement as Universal celebrates their 15th birthday. The park is loading up with dinosaurs, Minions and even some cool anime characters.
Speaking of crazy, the crowds for the new Flying Dinosaur coaster are insane! The ride reaches wait times of about 300 minutes, right at park opening. People line up for hours before the park opens, all in hopes of checking out the new coaster.
The Flying Dinosaur is as amazing as you can expect. It soars over Jurassic Park, and uses the theme of a dinosaur aviary as the setting. You fly high up into the sky before soaring around the world’s longest flying coaster. It’s a great ride, with lots of maneuvers that are sure to satisfy the biggest thrill seeker.
If you’re looking for something on the ground, instead of the air, Universal Studios Japan has all new dinosaurs roaming the area. They aren’t on any map, and they aren’t scheduled at all. The new dinosaurs range from a pair of Velociraptors, to a Triceratops. The good is that there doesn’t seem to be any kind of attraction based on it, and it brings a really cool vibe. The bad news is that people absolutely mob the dinosaurs.
For something a bit more ferocious, a Spinosaur attack also happens. This is really quite amazing as it uses massive animatronics (or puppets, not really sure) in an open environment. The Spinosaur charges at the containment unit, with sparks, fog effects and even a gun firing off to chase the animal away. Want to see it in action?

Throughout the rest of the park is some really amazing experiences, including a huge parade featuring Minions.
It definitely seems that Japan is in love with Minions, and with a third Despicable Me Movie on the way, we could see a Despicable Me attraction being built in park.
The awesome Space Fantasy Coaster has been transformed into a virtual ride, where you ca where the VR helmet and experience the attraction in a whole new way.
Universal Japan is also the only place where you can still experience Amity and the JAWS ride. Sure, you can see the tour at Universal Hollywood, but it’s not the same as the smile on your face when you get to battle that mean old shark, with huge grenade launchers and high voltage wires.
Cool Universal is also wrapping up very soon. BioHazard: The Escape is an all new escape room that puts you in the world of Resident Evil. There’s tons of other amazing things based on anime shows, such as 4D shows, and amazing photo ops.
We catch up with our friend Scott, also known as YouTuber-YukenDoIt, for an awesome video walkthrough of the park.
