At the D23 Expo Studios Panel, Ryan Coogler took to the stage along with Kevin Feige to announce that he would be returning to direct Black Panther 2. The new film will hit theaters on May 6th, 2022.
There’s no word on returning cast members, though the majority of the cast is likely to return, especially Chadwick Boseman, who has got to be tired after filming both Black Panther and the Avengers films.
The original film won three Academy Awards, and was the first Marvel film to be nominated for Best Picture. It grossed over $700 million dollars domestically, and broke the Billion dollar mark worldwide.
“We’re really hard at work on it trying to give you something special, we’re gonna take our time; we want it to be right” said director Ryan Coogler.
