Rocky Mountain Coasters are everywhere these days. Over the past few years, the coaster company has been doing amazing things to new wooden coasters, and breathing new life into old wooden coasters. While Is Flags has been the center of attention for the company for several years, it looks like.ocer the next year or so, attention could be focused to other parks as well.
A job listing on SimplyHired.com is gaining a ton of buzz all over the coaster community, as it pretty much lays out the projects for the famed coaster company over the next year. The coaster company is calling for construction positions in Pigeon Forge, TN as well as California and Kentucky.
The only major area where a wooden coaster would be built in Pigeon Forge, is of course, Dollywood. Dollywood is definitely getting an all new attraction for 2016, and it’s going to be a coaster, but no one is exactly sure of what kind and who is building it. It looks like either Rocky Mountain Coasters will be building the new coaster, or they’re going to be doing some major work to Thunderhead. While the work on Thunderhead seems unlikely, the new coaster (which is being called Shot Rod) is said to be a launched coaster. A wooden launch coaster would definitely be a great way to break new ground in the industry, and Rocky Mountain Coasters would definitely be the ones to do it.
In Kentucky, the only major park is Kentucky Kingdom, and rumors strongly suggest that their dueling wooden coaster, Twisted Twins, could get a huge overhaul and could even go the way of Twisted Colossus at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
California is where it gets a little trickier. Knott’s Berry Farm is rumored to be doing some major reworking of their coaster, Ghostrider. At the same time, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has Roar…which is in desperate need of some reworking. Over the past few years, Six Flags has been working almost exclusively with Rocky Mountain Coasters to reshape their wooden coasters, so it wouldn’t be that big of a surprise if it happened this year at Discovery Kingdom.
So, if given the choice, which coaster would you like to see get the RMC Treatment? Our choice is for Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa.
