Great Wolf Lodge Southern California has finally opened and settled into the new Southern California marketplace. The water-park continues to be a big hit with hotel guests as it has since it’s opened. In this article we’re going to take a thorough look inside the brand new 100,000+ indoor water park facility and all it has to offer to the hotel’s guests!
The entrance to the water park can be found on the lower level of the resort in the Main Street area. The appropriately named Bear Track Water Park sits just beyond a dual set of double doors and a small gift spot in case you need to grab some accessories for the park. This also serves as an excellent airlock to keep the humidity of the water park outside of the main building.
Once inside you’re greeted immediately by the huge Fort Mackenzie attraction. This serves as the flagship play area aimed towards smaller children and there is no shortage of activities to wear the kids down.
Lots of excellent themeing takes place at Fort Mackenzie.
Every 5 minutes, at the sound of a bell a crowd gathers under the big bucket, hoping to get splashed by hundreds of gallons of water. A must for any water park.
There are also a few slides aimed at those still to small to tackle some of the bigger attractions.
Directly across Fort Mackenzie lies the wave pool. While it’s smaller than most outdoor wave pools you’ll see, it definitely packs a punch and achieves generally the same experience.
Love the addition of the water fountains around the perimeter for the pool. It makes for a nice added touch.
The surf rider attraction directly next to the wave pool is an instant hit. Chances are your teen will spend most of their day wiping out on this extremely fun attraction. This is the only surf rider at a SoCal based water-park. It also draws a nice crowd of spectators looking to see their friends and family eating it.
Opposite the wave pool, just past Fort Mackenzie you’ll find the main water slides. These slides are housed on a separate level and the majority of them start and end inside the water park, but dramatically exit the structure for the main portion of each attraction.
Over 10 slides masterfully engineered to weave in and out of each other in such a small space.
Below most of the slides you’ll find the park’s lazy river, another must for water parks!
Just outside you’ll find one of the largest pools on property, this outdoor section will surely be a hit on those hot summer days and it also plays host to Grizzly Jack’s Bar and Grill (absolutely worth checking their burgers out). It is also host to the largest bar on property.
