The fog was lifted, and Thursday night passholders were treated to a ton of new information for this year’s Knott’s Scary Farm. Scary Farm is the longest running haunted theme park event, and is one of the biggest. This year there will be three new haunts, two huge shows, and even a Halloween overlay to one of the parks favorite rides.
Mazes
Three new mazes will debut this year, though one is a new twist on a fan favorite. The maze total is nine this year, and the line up couldn’t be any more diverse if you tried.
Here’s the returning favorites:
- Red Barn
- Voodoo
- Shadow Lands
- Special Ops Infected
- Paranormal Inc.
- The Tooth Fairy
Now for the new ones!
Trick or Treat: Lights Out
Are you afraid of the dark? You will be.
Armed with only a faulty flashlight, explore the creepy house at the end of the street, in the upgraded Trick-or-Treat: Lights Out maze. Face the terrors of the house in complete darkness as your interactive flashlight reveals the horrors hiding in the shadows. Featuring new state-of-the-art effects, unexpected scares and other eerie surprises, Trick-or-Treat: Lights Out will terrorize you like never before.
Trick or Treat is a returning favorite with a brand new twist. The maze becomes much more interactive than ever before, and of course, the Green Witch lurks in waiting.
Survive the wrath of the murderous 7-foot tall creature that haunts the old woods surrounding The Hollow in the new maze, Pumpkin Eater. The notorious creature is on the prowl hidden within the dark confines of the haunted town he once terrorized. To escape the sinister Pumpkin Eater’s wrath all that enter must go on a quest through the silent town of victims, face a cave of crawling insects and solve the labyrinth of thorns that blocks the way out.
It’s amazing that Knotts is creating another myth, especially in this day and age of internet monsters. Pumpkin Eater sounds like the perfect mix of myth, and originality. With any luck this one will spill outside the park.
Journey through an abandoned carnival ride where cruel carny folk still linger in the shadows in Dark Ride: Castle of Chaos, Knott’s Scary Farm’s newest maze. The shunned performers have created an ominous world of terror which they plan to unleash on those who enter. Dark Ride will lead brave visitors through a treacherous path and into the bowels of a long neglected attraction, as sinister shadows and horrifying scenes cast gloom over the once pleasant ride. It’s everyone’s worst nightmare, being helplessly surrounded by clowns without a way out.
Shows
We already know that Elvira: Mistress of the Dark will be putting on her final performance ever at Knott’s Scary Farm. That’s the first of the two shows, and now we know the other. Are you ready for Fake Noose?
The Hanging is always silly, but also a little controversial. One year they dumped Osama Bin Laden in Bikini Bottom with Spongebob, last year it was a political race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to see who became the new Sheriff. Every year, the show “hangs” a celebrity who has just been a complete and total a-hole throughout the year. Past hangees include Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton…and Donald Trump. Will they hang someone else, or will the “Fake Noose!” find our commander in chief once again? If it does, will people really be upset? I mean…it is just a silly Halloween show. Gotta tune in to find out!
Timber Mountain Log Ride
This year at Scary Farm, guests will be
This year, Knott’s will take Timber Mountain and make it a family friendly Halloween Hootenanny! The ride will be open to all Knott’s guests, both during the day and during Scary Farm.
Of course it will be wet, and scary…but it will also be fun, and the same family friendly fun it always is. The ride will even get a brand new song by Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, the parks’ favorite in house musicians. The new ride will be just for the Halloween season, so be sure to ride it often!
