On June 3, Texas Governor Greg Abbot gave theme and amusement parks the green light to open at 50% capacity beginning on June 19th. This announcement marks the beginning of the state’s Phase III reopening process, giving virtually every business in the state the opportunity to reopen in some capacity.
This latest news means that theme parks such as SeaWorld San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and Six Flags Over Texas will be able to reopen in a couple of weeks! Protective measures will be very similar to those of other major theme parks – temperature screenings, social distancing, frequent sanitization, and required face masks when not in a pool.
Water parks have been able to operate at 25% capacity since May 29, but will now be able to increase their capacity to 50%. Aquatica San Antonio is planning on reopening to the public on June 6th, and reservations will be required. The Schlitterbahn parks’ latest announcement was that they were targeting a mid-June reopening, but a specific date has not been announced.
